Parenting Actions For A Fantasy Friend

Parents don't worry about a child who has a make believe friend. I experienced this with one child so here are the actions I can share with you to help you cope.

Treat this imaginary person as if you see it too. Expect your child to tell the friend all the rules of the house because that friend must follow all the things your child has to also. Find out the name of this person so you can instantly welcome it into your home and say what you will help that friend do regarding good behavior and to help your child be a good friend to that imaginary person too.

Set a place at the table and encourage your child to know you are well aware of the fantasy friend not staying very long. In preparation for it leaving tell your child the friend is needed elsewhere so there will be acceptance when it leaves and great joy and no sorrow.
